ReplyDeleteLooks like your planters and planter boxes have become rotten and soft due to the cheap contruction. The money it seemed you have saved when you bought those cheap planters on the NYC planter suppliers of the w28st Manhattan flower district is now being spent in your time to transplant the trees or shrubs on your terrace or rooftop garden. If you would have known about New York Plantings ability to supply you with custom built or in stock wood or fiberglass planters and IPE wood custom built planter boxes you could have planters that last a lifetime! I see why you may want plastic or metal planters, especially since the manufacturer or company didn't use the right materials in building the planters that you show me in the photo!
We have learned through decades of building planters how to make them last and we line the inside with EPDM roofing membrane to isolate the moisture. Then, We can build you planters using "IPE" brazillian hardwood that will look beautiful and last for decades. Another option is to use a "ground contact" rated pressure treated wood that again will last approximately 20 years. We can stain the wood or paint for any finish you like.
With IPE the color is beautiful rich dark cherry and only neds to be oiled once per year to keep looking as new!
We DO make metal planters, and offer fiberglass in the approximate sizes you mention.
Drainage: very important that a true gardener experienced in outdoor planters sets up the initial drainage and soil type plays a role as well. Attention to the plantings is important and should not be left to the typical flower district shop workers.

The planters in IPE will cost approximately $500.00 each. 5 year warrantee. complete, soil and plants too!
This would include delivery, setup, soil (very high quality "Rooflite" brand soil especially for urban plantings) proper drainage layer, filter fabric to keep soil and dirty water from exiting the planter through drainage holes.
This includes oil finishing and proper drainage setup.
We will include plantings at this price of either a dwarf evergreen such as boxwood with ivy wisps.
