Manhattan Rooftop Gardens by NY Plantings Garden Designers NYC & Irrigation : New York Plantings

Manhattan Rooftop Gardens by NY Plantings Garden Designers NYC & Irrigation : New York Plantings

New York Plantings Garden Designers and Landscape Contractors NYC has been building custom rooftop decks, built in planters, privacy fences and other outdoor space improvements in the NY metro area landscaping company trades for several years.

Moving from a high end NY and Manhattan master garden designer, to a rooftop garden maintenance company, expanding to include drip irrigation systems in Manhattan as well as landscape lighting installations to complement the Gardening services and landscaping NY Plantings had already become established for in NY.

A conversation with Todd Nappi I thought could be shared. Refreshingly a direct and to the point email about our restaurant's planter boxes and the need to have new planters deliverd and planted for the Manhattan restaurant garden.

We sent photos of our old planters and inquired regarding purchasing custom built planters and delivery in Manhattan, NY.

read on:
Looks like your planters and planter boxes have become rotten and soft due to the cheap construction. The money it seemed you have saved when you bought those cheap planters on the NYC planter suppliers of the  w28st Manhattan flower district is now being spent in your time to transplant the trees or shrubs on your terrace or rooftop garden.

If you would have known about New York Plantings ability to supply you with custom-built or in-stock wood or fiberglass planters and IPE wood custom built planter boxes you could have planters that last a lifetime!  I see why you may want plastic or metal planters, especially since the manufacturer or company didn't use the right materials in building the planters that you show me in the photo!

We have learned through decades of building planters how to make them last and we line the inside with EPDM roofing membrane to isolate the moisture. Then, We can build you planters using "IPE" brazillian hardwood that will look beautiful and last for decades. Another option is to use a "ground contact" rated pressure treated wood that again will last approximately 20 years. We can stain the wood or paint for any finish you like.

With IPE the color is beautiful rich dark cherry and only neds to be oiled once per year to keep looking as new! We at NY Plantings DO make metal planters and offer fiberglass in the approximate sizes you mention.

Drainage: very important that a true gardener experienced in outdoor planters sets up the initial drainage and soil type plays a role as well. Attention to the plantings is important and should not be left to the typical flower district shop workers.

Pricing: This is general pricing for cube or rectangular planters of 24" cube or 36" rectangular planters. These planters can be shipped across the country or the world however you cannot beat these prices for a delivered and set up the planter, with soil an plants in quality or pricing. Definitely cannot match the skill a design prowess of Todd Nappi garden designer at NY Plantings!

IPE planters:
The planters in IPE will cost approximately $500.00 each. 5-year warranty. complete, soil and plants too!

This would include delivery, setup, soil (very high quality "Rooflite" brand soil especially for urban plantings) proper drainage layer, filter fabric to keep soil and dirty water from exiting the planter through drainage holes.

This includes oil finishing and proper drainage setup. We will include plantings at this price of either a dwarf evergreen such as boxwood with ivy wisps.

NY Plantings is a master garden design company unequaled in ability in Manhattan metro areas.

This is a great price. Consider the materials, lifetime planters, soil, plants, setup, and delivery!

Pressure treated wood planters, 5 year warranty.
Extra thick heavy duty planters: $400.00 each, delivered same as above with plantings.

Fiberglass planters: much better than plastic: $310.00 each empty delivered or
$ 410.00 each with soil, plantings.

We can likely give you discounts for PayPal or cash sales.

There is simply no better company for the complete manufacture and delivery with setup than New York Plantings.

We will also include 3 free follow-up visits for ensuring that the plants do well and establish.

Instructing staff on caring for plantings and offer a service that maintains the plantings, keeping them looking fresh and beautiful year-round, replacing any damaged or unattractive plants continuously.

We have been servicing restaurants and hotels for years, in fact, this is how we began our business in Manhattan!

New York Plantings: Turn that stale terrace into a wonderful oasis.......

New York Plantings: Turn that stale terrace into a wonderful oasis.......:

I love to come into a drab, bare terrace or rooftop and discuss with a potential client how we can make space better. Turn the outdoor space into a terrace garden. A rooftop garden. A garden to me says a lot more than just a place where things grow. In Asian countries, gardens and parks are the same words. As a hardcore garden designer, and avid landscape design enthusiast and now since living in NYC, a "Rooftop Gardener" I have happily paid my dues in the garden both at my own homes on Long Island and in the Poconos.

As a serious mechanic, antique motorcycle restoration nut, race engine builder turned Garden obsessed, reading hundreds of garden books, hanging around the nursery like a barbershop, attending university for horticultural knowledge was just a hobby still.
I had no intention of turning my hobby and garden obsession into a trade. I didn't need to. I had a great job and a beautiful home with plenty of land to garden practice landscape design and real gardening on with a good budget and plenty of time to do it.

Now I run a small but growing NYC Garden company. Who comes to NYC to garden? The first thing people say is: How can you garden in Manhattan? Well, you can and you cant. I'll return to all this in a new blog later.
Back to your terrace or "rooftop garden" Remember its space not just the plants that make it a garden.
How we can add life, greenery year-round, make the place useful and inviting, give a view from inside the home of life even during a dreary winter's day. Other major and minor factors go into designing a terrace or building a rooftop garden. I want to mention that I do both, with help of course. I mean I both design and build rooftop gardens and beautiful terraces.   From black tar roof on up. from the concrete terrace to a really nice place to be. Blogs were once just a way to advertise and achieve backlinks for me but now things have changed. Google wants "Content" I'll give them "Content". Since I truly love gardening and landscape design I consider myself lucky that I can do this every day and be paid for it.

I even ask that people share some of their NYC gardening or rooftop garden experiences. I'm a real landscape man way before rooftop gardens and no I didn't cut grass, ever. Without those roots, sorry, you can't be any kind of professional gardener because growing things in a box on a rooftop garden correctly come from real garden experience and realizing just what makes plants healthy and grow in the first place. The school helps but there's no substitute for a decade of hobbyist and even more than that as a real tradesman.   Becoming a gardener takes work and a lot of time.

You cant skip the work and claim to be a gardener by planting boxwood in a box on a roof and taking a pretty photo for your website. (well maybe in NYC you can). I'll leave it at this and I hope to rouse some friendly dialogue. New York Plantings is a unique company and we have colorful experiences working in Manhattan and surrounding area landscapes and gardens. To make things more interesting we have started a drip irrigation and landscape lighting specialty company a few years ago and even that, as with anything in Manhattan, NY can turn into an adventure of sorts. I had one gentleman send a post saying he was interested in seeing what I had to say. Hopefully, we can find more. If you will let me know by following I promise not to do any advertising but write the real deal. (there will be links though, sorry)
Thanks for your time.
